Engaging the City Government of Ligao in continuous response to the international clamor to fight poverty, Mayor Patricia Gonzalez-Alsua along with other local chief executives and DILG Officials, signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Family-based Actions for Children and their Environs in the Slums (FACES) last July 6, 2017 at the A. Venue Hotel, Makati City.
The SDG serves as a universal call to action adopted by 193-Member United Nations General Assembly including the Philippines, to discern on how we want to see the world by 2030. It aims to provide a transformational vision for the world and institute collaboration towards creating decent jobs, promote dignity, equality and justice for all.
The MOA signing is a renewal of partnership since Ligao City has been one of the best implementers of FACES. In 2008, together with 14 cities, the LGU had entered into a MOA with the DILG through the Local Government Academy to implement the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) FACES Project which is a strategy that localized the MDG framework to the grassroots level.
