Mayor Patricia Gonzalez-Alsua delivered the Local State of Children’s Report on 27 November 2017 at the City Gymnasium, Ligao City, in celebration of the National Children’s Month with the theme “Bata, Iligtas sa Droga”.

The City Government of Ligao has been a fervent supporter and implementer of programs, which are mainstreamed in the different frontline offices of the city, addressing the rights to survival, development, protection and participation of the children in Ligao.

The dedication of LGU-Ligao to pursue a healthier and better environment for the welfare of the children has reaped awards such as the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance in 2015 and 2016, Local ECCD Champion 2015, Orally-Fit Communal Regional Awardee in four consecutive years (2012-2016), Newborn Screening Best Implementer Regional Winner in 2013-2014, and 2015 Kadunong Awardee for the Best LGU with Best Practices in Education.

The Declaration of the Rights of the Child recognizing the fundamental principles of children’s rights, and as a human being who must be able to develop physically, mentally, morally and spiritually, with freedom and dignity, was adopted by the United Nations in 1959.
