Mayor Patricia Gonzalez-Alsua received the P27 million aid from the City Government of Quezon, headed by Mayor Herbert Bautista, on 20 November 2017 at the Quezon City Hall, Quezon City.
As Quezon City is the largest city in the metropolis with indomitable economic progress and amicable governance, Mayor Alsua expressed her profound gratitude to Mayor Bautista for lending a hand to the smaller local government units like Ligao.
The said financial assistance will be used to fund the renovation of the City Gymnasium which includes the facelifting of its facade, replacement of roofing, provision of acoustical walls and ceiling, installation of plastic bleachers and airconditioning. Part of the donation will go to the rehabilitation of 23 covered courts, and other structures destructed by typhoon Nina which pounded the Bicol Region, particularly Ligao City, December last year.
Meanwhile, Ligao City is truly one of the fast rising cities in the Bicol Region in terms of public infrastructure with the on-going renovation and construction of important structures like the new City Hall in San Jose St Extension, the Ligao City Rural Health Unit. Soon-to-rise are the new campus for Ligao Community College, a 3-storey commercial building at old Barbin Bldg; 4-Storey Commercial Building at the old “Bi-Com” Bldg, and new City Engineering, City General Services and City Agriculture Offices. In addition, a new gymnasium will be erected at Ligao West Central Elementary School at Brgy. Binatagan, Ligao City.
