The NATIONAL BUILDING CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES (PD1096)
By virtue of PD 1096, otherwise known as National Building Code of the Philippines (NBC), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) designated the Office of the City Building Officials (OCBC) under the Local Government Units of every provinces and cities.
- To implement regulations, examine permits and requirements for construction, repair, use, occupancy and conversion as well as demolition of buildings in conformity with the National Building Code of the Philippines.
- To protect the lives, health and property of the citizens by formulating measures regarding the location, sitting design, quality of materials, construction equipments to be used including electrical, mechanical and other forms and methods for installations
- Effectively enforce building policies and diligently conducts inspections given that it is their responsibility to ascertain that the constructing party is following the regulations as mandated by law.
