The barangay is where the rivers of Ligao meet and intersect that is why it is called “Tagpo,” meaning “intersection or meeting place.”

 A fiesta is celebrated every 3rd Wednesday of April in honor of their patron saint, Our Mother of Perpetual Help.


Barangay Tagpo has a total land area of 39.42 hectares (ha). Its terrain is relatively flat. It is bounded on the East by Barangay Tomolin; on the West and South by Barangay Cavasi; and on the North by Barangay Binatagan.

The barangay day care center is the only educational facility in barangay Tagpo.

The barangay also provides basic health care services through its Barangay Health Center. The nearest public/private hospital and drugstore can be found 2 kilometers from the barangay hall respectively.

Multi-Purpose Hall, and Barangay Outpost are the two (2) Service Facilities offered in the barangay. Other nearest Service Facilities is located 2 kms away, in the center hub of the City of Ligao.

Mode of Public Transportation

Barangay Tagpo can be accessed by land through tricycles, pedicabs and jeepneys (PUJs). There are concrete access roads that connect the barangay to other places in the municipality.

By land, Barangay Tagpo is approximately a 5-minute ride from Poblacion of City of Ligao.

Tricycles and pedicabs are used as public transportation to move around the barangay.

Credit Institutions

There are 2 credit institutions present in the barangay. These are “LPG-Sea Loan” which can be contacted through Euvigilda Oro, and Rural Bank Incorporated which can be contacted through Amelia Quililan. One of the biggest credit institutions in the city is the Local Government of Ligao City through the City Cooperative and Development Office and City Agriculture Office, with the goal of uplifting the economic status of the families in the City.

Water & Sanitation

Majority of the residents in barangay Tagpo have access to potable water through the LCWD, shared tubed and own tubed/piped deep well, and dug wells.

Power and Electricity

The Albay Power and Energy Corporation (APEC) provides electric service in the barangay.

Waste Management

For the protection of the environment, barangay Tagpo practices waste management through segregation of both biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes which is then collected by the City of Ligao garbage truck.

The Ecological Solid Waste Management are strengthened through City Ordinances 2011-002 also known as Solid Waste Management Ordinance and 2011-018, the Anti-Plastic Ordinance. These ordinances are in compliance to Republic Act 9003, otherwise known as Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

Peace and Order

Barangay Tanods regularly conduct daily rounds to ensure maintenance of Peace and Order in the barangay, focusing their rounds more on the barangay proper.
