HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Cavasi was one of the original barangays of Ligao in existence during the Cadastral Survey conducted on March 4, 1932.
The barangay is the oldest settlement when it was still part of Libon, during the Spanish era. According to legend, there was a Spanish who has been to the place. He was asking the name of the place in a foreign tongue. The native, not understanding what the stranger was saying, referred the stranger to the “Cabeza”, the head of the place. The stranger, also do not understand what the native was saying, thought that the place was named “Cabeza”. So, the place was known as “Cabeza” until the passing of time that it became “Cavasi”.
A fiesta is celebrated every 7th day of October in honor of the patron saint, Nuestra Señora del Rosario.
