The zeal of dedication in promoting and sustaining programs for environmental protection and conservation continues, as the City Government of Ligao headed by Mayor Patricia Gonzalez-Alsua is deeply privileged to be conferred by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region V (DENR-V) with the 17th Saringaya Award on 30 June 2017 at The Theater, Hotel St. Ellis, Legazpi City.

LGU-Ligao is able to pass the selection criteria which includes Environmental Protection, Environmental Conservation, Environmental Rehabilitation, Sustainability of the Programs/Projects and Social Relevance and/or Environmental Impact. Furthermore, the city is as well recognized for being the first LGU in the province of Albay with approved 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan by the National Solid Waste Management Commission.

Mayor Alsua shared the honor to the employees and her beloved constituents for the hardwork and cooperation in the strict implementation of the policies and the programs for a healthier and a more environmental-friendly community.

The Local Chief Executive pledged to carry on better projects for a richer and protected environment and instill among the people particularly to the youth, the value of preserving and sustaining the marvel of nature.
